Radiology and radiation therapy services provider Alliance HealthCare Services has purchased the majority of the assets of imaging quality assurance software developer OnPoint Medical Diagnostics.
Alliance paid $1 million in cash plus a two-year royalty stream to acquire the majority of OnPoint's assets, which include its MRI and CT quality assurance products, big data technology platform and software-as-a-service framework, R&D pipeline, customer contracts, and employees.
OnPoint's cloud-based quality assurance software is being used by 81 hospitals and imaging centers in 30 states, with more than 250 diagnostic imaging systems sending performance data to the OnPoint cloud, Alliance said. The healthcare IT start-up was launched in February 2012.
The deal fits Alliance's strategic Rad360 vision, which aims to help hospitals and healthcare providers optimize their radiology service line, according to the firm.
