Dear AuntMinnie Member,
We're pleased to launch a new feature in our Imaging Informatics Community: Mobile App Spotlight, a new series that profiles some of the most useful mobile apps in medical imaging.
Our first article is about Radiology Toolbox Pro, which is described as a sort of "ectopic brain" for radiologists. Senior Editor Erik L. Ridley talked to the app's developer, radiologist Dr. Eric Baumel, about his desire to build an app that would put information at his fingertips rather than forcing him to look it up again and again in different resources.
To develop the app, Dr. Baumel taught himself the programming languages required by Apple for app development, and he even created his own medical illustrations. To date, the app has been downloaded almost 70,000 times internationally.

New payment codes for DBT?
While the number of positive clinical trials has been building in support of digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) (see paragraph below), the financial picture for the technology has been less certain. The situation may be about to change, however.
That's according to our latest column from Jeff Majchrzak of Panacea Healthcare Solutions, who discussed the exciting prospect that DBT providers could know in just a few weeks whether Medicare payments will be forthcoming for the technology in 2015.
Even if payments are approved, there are still a lot of details to sort out. Get the inside scoop by clicking here, or visit our Imaging Leaders Community at leaders.auntminnie.com.
In other DBT news, yet another study has been published on its clinical potential. This time, researchers from the University of Pennsylvania reported on their experiences after converting to full DBT breast screening in 2011. They found that DBT worked particularly well in younger women.
