Cloud-based software developer DICOM Grid has released a new feature for its medical image management platform.
The upgrade is designed to allow patients and healthcare providers to upload medical pictures taken on an iOS device and securely share them with physicians.
The "medical selfie" feature aids in the real-time sharing of images commonly used in dermatology and wound care, and they can be assessed without special equipment. In addition to still pictures, patients can share diagnostic imaging and related data through a DICOM Grid account.
DICOM Grid will showcase the feature later this month at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annual meeting in Chicago.
