Big data visualization software developer Zebra Medical Vision has raised $8 million and is launching a beta version of its Medical Imaging Research software for researchers.
The funding came from a group led by Khosla Ventures, with participating parties Deep Fork Capital and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff.
Zebra's software allows researchers to develop imaging algorithms and insights based on large-scale datasets and advanced processing power. The company believes that its software can reduce false positives, identify false negatives, provide earlier diagnosis of cancer or other diseases, and show incidental findings hidden in imaging data that resides within archives of health providers, Zebra Medical said.
Zebra's system is cloud-based and includes access to large datasets of structured, deidentified studies, storage, graphics processing unit (GPU) computing power, and support for research tools.
The Medical Imaging Research software is initially being launched to select research groups and researchers and machine learning practitioners can apply for an invite on the company's website.
