RIS/PACS and advanced visualization firm Merge Healthcare has launched a new business unit called iConnect Network Services.
The unit will specialize in interoperability services to reduce labor and overhead costs associated with prior-authorization processes. It also plans to enhance physician engagement among provider communities and increase referral success.
iConnect Network Services will have three core offerings:
- iCNS Orders will help physicians place electronic orders, document the appropriateness of the order, and reduce the volume of lost orders due to inefficient processes and lack of follow-up.
- iCNS Authorize will automate existing manual and prior-authorization processes for hospitals and imaging centers. According to Merge, 81% of imaging order claims are denied, because prior authorization was either not obtained or not handled properly.
- iCNS Results will provide imaging results to the ordering physician within his or her existing electronic health record to enhance physician engagement and care delivery.
