Ambulatory clinical software company eClinicalWorks and RIS firm Epic Systems have integrated their electronic health record (EHR) systems using the Carequality framework.
Carequality is a Healtheway initiative that seeks to facilitate interoperability between existing and emerging health information exchange (HIE) networks. Carequality will facilitate real-time data transfer between eClinicalWorks' and Epic's systems, which together represent more than 1,000 hospitals and 40,000 clinics, according to the firms.
Minnesota's Entira Family Clinics and HealthEast Hospital, both in St. Paul, are piloting the integration, the two companies said.
