Nonprofit healthcare consulting and research organization Altarum Institute is unveiling its ImageSmart clinical decision-support software.
Developed during a recent project funded by the U.S. Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI), ImageSmart supports physician decision-making for imaging by providing evidence-based guidelines from multiple professional societies, as well as information regarding industry best practices, relative radiation exposure, and procedure cost, according to Altarum. In testing, providers who used ImageSmart ordered a more appropriate test or an imaging alternative nearly 20% of the time, the company said.
ImageSmart has been certified for use with Allscripts' TouchWorks electronic health record (EHR) and Professional EHR software.
