The Aria oncology information system (OIS) software from Varian Medical Systems has been certified to demonstrate meaningful use (MU) as part of the U.S. government's healthcare IT stimulus program.
Hospitals and clinics can now use Aria to qualify for financial incentives from Medicare and Medicaid by demonstrating meaningful use of healthcare IT, the company said. Version 13.6 MR1 of the software was certified as a complete ambulatory health record by the Drummond Group; when coupled with Equicare Health's Active Patient Portal software, it can provide oncology patients with secure Web-based access to their medical records, according to Varian.
