Danish radiology resident Dr. Jens Borgbjerg plans to introduce a new teaching file module designed to help radiology trainees develop a search plan for interpreting head CT studies.

Combining video instruction and normal anatomical references, the teaching file is intended to serve as a vehicle for deliberate practice to develop expertise, said Borgbjerg of Aalborg University Hospital in Aalborg, Denmark. It will be available as a subsite on Borgbjerg's Imaging Anatomy Web-based radiological atlas after RSNA 2015 gets underway.

"Focused, effortful practice of limited duration has been found to be important in a range of domains within medical training," Borgbjerg told AuntMinnie.com. "In like manner, by going through a number of critical neuroradiological cases, the developed teaching file guides the trainee step by step in analyzing a study correctly, formulating a diagnosis with subsequent immediate, detailed feedback, and, in the process, amalgamating a search pattern."
