Software developer Integrated Document Solutions (IDS) has introduced HL7 Without Walls (WoW), a cloud-based technology designed to facilitate data exchange across enterprises and disparate systems.
Powered by the company's AbbaDox Exchange platform, HL7 WoW uses the HL7 2.X specification to replace virtual private network tunnels, transmitting messages to multiple locations while avoiding order duplication and additional transmission fees, according to IDS. HL7 WoW features include message multicasting, geographical Internet Protocol fluidity, and multiple levels of HL7 message acknowledgement confirmation, the company said.
IDS said the new offering is particularly suitable for organizations that need to exchange data with multiple enterprises or electronic medical records, as well as those with high messaging volumes, such as groups providing teleradiology services. The firm highlighted HL7 WoW at the recent RSNA 2015 meeting in Chicago.
