Dicom Systems has unveiled its FireBridge offering for integrating third-party imaging software components within an enterprise healthcare IT network.
FireBridge translates HL7, DICOM, or any simple system event to and from HL7's new Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standard; it also makes any interface FHIR-ready and compliant with the DICOMweb standard, according to the vendor. When combined with the DICOMweb standard, FireBridge can enable third-party applications to upload any kind of standard data to the vendor's Enterprise Imaging Suite and vendor-neutral archive (VNA), Dicom Systems said.
FireBridge can also serve as an FHIR proxy for radiology, cardiology, oncology, ophthalmology, dermatology, and any other subspecialty connected to an enterprise imaging system. What's more, FireBridge connects all third-party applications to a Dicom Systems VNA without the need for virtual private networks, according to the firm.
