National Decision Support Company (NDSC) has unveiled CareSelect, an enterprise-wide appropriate use criteria (AUC) and clinical pathway engine that is integrated with electronic medical record (EMR) software.
Representing NDSC's expansion into new clinical areas, CareSelect is designed to house and manage both national and local guidelines and allow healthcare organizations to manage the delivery and configuration of EMR advisories within the user interface of the native EMR software, according to the vendor.
CareSelect applies natural language processing and other algorithms to EMR data to provide advisories across the care continuum, such as those from the Choosing Wisely initiative that cover settings and conditions such as antibiotic stewardship, high-cost lab testing, and utilization management in the emergency department, NDSC said.
CareSelect is currently being implemented at several healthcare organizations. The firm will highlight CareSelect in its booth at the upcoming Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annual meeting in Las Vegas.
