GE adds lung density software to Health Cloud

GE Healthcare has made the Lung Density Analysis software from Imbio for lung CT scans one of the first software applications available in the GE Health Cloud.

As a result of the collaboration, Lung Density Analysis, designed for quantification and visualization of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), will be fully integrated into GE Health Cloud's clinical workflow. GE launched Health Cloud at RSNA 2015 to serve as a healthcare IT platform that customers can tap into for apps targeting specific needs.

Customers subscribing to Imbio's software through GE Health Cloud will have their CT lung images automatically uploaded for processing. They will receive an augmented CT lung series with density overlays for detailed image interpretation, as well as patient-friendly summary reports added to their study results. The full workflow integration will allow streamlined processing to quantify and localize areas of low lung density and air trapping.

This agreement marks the first step in integrating Imbio's portfolio of lung analysis software into the GE Health Cloud, the firms said. Lung Density Analysis is expected to be released on the GE Health Cloud when it launches in the middle of this year.
