Big-data visualization software developer Zebra Medical Vision has debuted Profound, an analytics engine that will enable patients to upload their imaging studies to the firm's online platform for automated analysis.
Users from Europe, Asia, the Pacific Rim, and Latin America can upload their imaging studies to the Zebra service, which will analyze the exams for the presence of osteoporosis, compression fractures, fatty liver, coronary calcium, emphysema, and aortic aneurysms. Additional algorithms -- including for mammography -- will be added soon, according to the Israeli vendor.
Zebra emphasized that Profound does not replace a physician or a proper medical examination. The company urges anyone who has concerns about a health condition to seek professional medical advice.
