Medical artificial intelligence firm DeepRadiology has developed a fully autonomous system for medical image interpretation and is showing the system at RSNA 2016 in Chicago.
The software system is able to produce final interpretations and reports on imaging studies without the need for a radiologist, according to the firm.
The software was created using artificial intelligence techniques, knowledge from major radiology textbooks, and the cumulative experience of reviewing many millions of medical images.
The system is not yet available for marketing in the U.S. and is currently being evaluated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
