Royal Philips, the parent company of Philips Healthcare, has appointed Dr. Roy Smythe as its new chief medical officer (CMO) for health informatics.
Smythe comes to Philips from Valence Health, where he also served as CMO. Before Valence Health, he was CMO at Avia and medical director for innovation at Baylor Scott & White Health. Smythe was also chair of the department of surgery at Baylor Scott & White and at the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine.
He will report to Jeroen Tas, CEO of connected care and health informatics, the company said.
