Healthcare IT firm MedInformatix has inked a partnership with medical terminology developer Intelligent Medical Objects (IMO).
MedInformatix will include IMO's medical terminology in its electronic health record (EHR), enabling its customers to use a glossary of medical terms and concepts to document and deliver patient care and, if they haven't already, begin making the transition from uncoded to coded clinical data, according to the company.
MedInformatix said it has already begun to integrate IMO's Procedure IT application, which selects the best billing or reference code for procedure terminology. The firm is also working to include Problem IT, a clinical diagnosis and problem list vocabulary containing specialized terms for clinicians, coders, and patients.
IMO's platform uses medical terms in both hierarchical and semantic classifications, allowing healthcare professionals to find and enter terms at the point of care for more than 800,000 clinical concepts. These concepts map to 5 million terms and more than 100 reference and reimbursement code sets, MedInformatix said.
