Healthcare IT firm MedInformatix has introduced Wait in Car, a mobile-friendly app that allows patients to wait in their cars for medical appointments instead of in waiting rooms.
Designed to streamline the patient check-in and registration process, Wait in Car integrates with the company's electronic health record and RIS software and sends patients a text on the day of their appointment requesting that they use a link to alert the facility of their arrival. Patients can then complete check-in requirements, including answering COVID-19 screening questions, while they wait in their car, MedInformatix said.
Medical personnel inside the facility can then review and track the patient information in real time as it's fed into the MedInformatix system. Once the screening questions have been completed and the patient is ready to be received, the staff then sends a follow-up text inviting them into the facility for their appointment, according to the company.
The software was tested at several sites, including University Radiology in New Jersey, MedInformatix said. It's available now as a free add-on for MedInformatix customers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
