Nuance Communications and the health system Providence are expanding their long-term relationship, with Nuance installing its cloud software across Providence's 51-hospital, seven-state system.
Providence will build on Nuance's Dragon Medical One software with the Dragon Ambient eXperience (DAX). The software combines Nuance's conversational artificial intelligence technology with Microsoft's Azure cloud computing service. The voice-enabled software has ambient sensing technology that securely and privately listens to clinician-patient conversations and offers workflow as well as knowledge automation to complement the electronic health record.
Nuance and Providence also plan to create technologies that improve health system efficiency. They will do so by deploying CDE One for Clinical Documentation Integrity workflow management, Computer-Assisted Physician Documentation (CAPD), and Surgical CAPD, which focus on accurate clinician documentation of patient care. Providence will also use Nuance's PowerScribe One radiology reporting software.
