Film digitizer vendor Howtek reported first-quarter sales of $776,000, down 48.8% compared with 2001 first-quarter sales of $1.5 million. For the period (end-March 31), the Hudson, NH-based company had a net loss of $521,000, compared with a net loss of $640,000 in the same quarter last year.
Howtek, which announced its intent to merge with computer-aided detection (CAD) developer Intelligent Systems Software in February, plans to concentrate its future on the market for breast cancer CAD, as well as complementary markets for medical film digitizers, said president Scott Parr.
