Philips Medical Systems North America secured PACS contracts with four institutions in the U.S. in June. The Bothell, WA-based vendor will install a PACS system in three hospitals and an imaging center affiliated with Toledo, OH-based ProMedica.
The company has completed Inturis deals with Houston Healthcare in Warner Robins, GA, and Perry, GA; Salem Hospital in Salem, OR; and Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. All four installations are slated for completion by the end of 2002. Sectra Imtec of Linkoping, Sweden is a design and development partner in the Philips PACS system.
In other news, Philips has released three scalable archive options to its PACS portfolio. EasyAccess Modality is a digital storage and viewing platform for images acquired from a variety of modalities. The product is expandable and can be upgraded to the next archive product level, EasyAccess Entry, Philips said.
The Entry model archive architecture is designated for facilities that produce 50,000 or fewer images annually. EasyAccess Enterprise is the final iteration in the archive line. It features a modular and scalable design that can be built to accommodate up to a million exams per year, according to the firm.
