Siemens set for UPHS PACS install

Siemens Medical Solutions of Iselin, NJ, has signed an 8-year agreement to provide its Sienet PACS to the University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS). The product family is slated for installation at four Philadelphia-area hospitals: the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Presbyterian Medical Center, Pennsylvania Hospital, and Phoenixville Hospital as well as eight regional imaging centers.

As part of the installation, UPHS plans on converting the majority of its existing films to digital storage, resulting in an estimated 20 terabytes of diagnostic image data. The UPHS facilities conduct an average of 650,000 radiology procedures each year.
