Delft Instruments has acquired a 40% stake in PACS systems integrator Medical Technology Services for approximately $972,000 (U.S.) in cash. As a result of the deal, MTS of Aurora, OH, has become part of the Dutch vendor's Delft Medical Sector organization and has been renamed MTS-Delft.
Delft said it hopes the MTS-Delft investment will help it improve the U.S. market penetration of its PACS (Rogan Medical Systems) and ThoraScan thorax imaging systems (Nucletron). MTS has marketing agreements with Rogan and Nucletron (both Delft units), and Delft plans to grow MTS into a medium-sized systems integrator.
Delft also retains an option to acquire a majority stake in MTS after three years, and to purchase the remaining shares after five years.
