Dear PACS Insider,
Think teleradiology is hard? It certainly can be, especially when multiple institutions are involved. For Kaiser Permanente in Southern California, an internally developed Web application is successfully managing a teleradiology service for after-hours emergency coverage, meeting the needs of 11 medical centers and associated medical offices.
The application manages the service from imaging request to viewing of the results by the emergency departments, according to Kaiser's Bruce Horn. And it's been very well received by the ED units, said Horn, who presented his institution's findings at the 2004 RSNA meeting in Chicago.
