AMS upgrades PACS-in-a-Box product

PACS firm American Medical Sales (AMS) has debuted a set of enhancements for its PACS-in-a-Box product line.

The company has upgraded the capacity of its PACS-1M software for single-modality offices to hold the equivalent of 25,000 14 x 17-inch images, up from 10,000 previously. The company's Prince product, with an automated CD burner and labeler, now holds 50,000 images, doubling its previous capacity of 25,000 images.

AMS also has added a new product, PACS-3M, to the PACS-in-a-Box family. PACS-3M is designed for facilities that have multiple modalities, but only an occasional need for burning CDs for referring physicians. PACS-3M holds up to the equivalent of 50,000 14 x 17-inch images, and includes licenses to place "electronic viewboxes" throughout a facility. The software can also be upgraded to allow distribution of images via the Internet.
