PACS vendors will arrive at McCormick Place next month ready to show off expanded clinical capabilities for their offerings.
Thanks in part to the results from the landmark Digital Mammographic Imaging Screening Trial (DMIST), market interest in full-field digital mammography (FFDM) systems is on the rise. And PACS firms are ready to do their part. At this year's RSNA meeting, many companies will demonstrate support for digital mammography exams.
Once again, PACS companies have bolstered the advanced visualization capabilities of their software. Booth visitors will be able to take in a range of 3D and image fusion tools, as well as computer-aided detection (CAD) capabilities, at many exhibits.
Cardiac and orthopedic applications remain an area of vendor activity, as is continued RIS/PACS integration. In other developments, a number of vendors will point to efforts to bring advanced PACS workstation functionality to the healthcare enterprise.
In addition to core digital image management and viewing software, many PACS technology providers will be showcasing related tools and accessories. For more information on these products, stay tuned for future Road to RSNA editions on Medical Displays, Archiving Systems, and PACS Accessories.
