Storage media firm TDK has decided to withdraw from the medical market, effective September 30.
As of that date, the Garden City, NY-based firm will no longer accept orders for its DMC and CDRS DICOM Media Creator products and medical-grade recording media. TDK will also no longer accept orders for service for DMC and CDRS DICOM Media Creators; warranty and service contracts received prior to September 30 will be honored, however.
As of October 1, Rimage of Minneapolis will take over TDK's call center functions, and will work with service provider Anacomp US and Anacomp Europe to fulfill all existing service contracts, according to TDK.
TDK’s Medical division was not part of Imation’s acquisition of TDK’s recording media business in July. While TDK had intended to look for strategic initiatives and opportunities for its medical business unit, it ultimately decided that the best course of action was to withdraw from the medical market, according to a company spokesperson.
