Electronics giant TDK said that its TDKVentures fund has invested in biomagnetic cardiac imaging technology developer Genetesis.

Genetesis has developed CardioFlux, a magnetocardiography system designed to detect biomagnetic signals produced by the heart's electrical activity when pumping blood, according to TDK. The system then identifies -- within minutes -- if patients with chest pain need interventional cardiac procedures or if they can be sent home safely, the company said.

The investment in Genetesis is the fifth overall and the first in healthcare for TDK's $50 million venture fund.
