NDS buys media streaming firm Rivulet

Display firm NDS Surgical Imaging has acquired Rivulet Communications, a Herndon, VA, developer of software for managing medical multimedia data in hospital environments.

NDS of San Jose, CA, said that it is forming a new Network Visualization (NetViz) group to include the Rivulet assets. The company said it plans to develop a high-definition end-to-end product offering that will display, stream, capture, archive, and remotely access surgical image data. The group will be led by Chris Roller, vice president of engineering, and will include a number of former Rivulet employees.
