PACS/RIS software developer Paxeramed has installed a large teleradiology network in South Africa.
The project connects 27 governmental hospitals in the Eastern Cape province in South Africa. All hospitals send their imaging studies to the main data center at the State Information Technology Agency (SITA), where they are processed by the Irvine, CA-based firm's PaxeraWeb PACS. Radiologists can then connect to PaxeraWeb to view images and write reports; completed reports are sent back to the hospital where the studies were produced, Paxeramed said.
