Philips Healthcare and Microsoft will integrate each other's technologies to enhance radiologists' workflow.
The companies plan to connect Microsoft's Amalga data aggregation platform with Philips' iSite PACS software to allow radiologists to view patient data stored across a healthcare network.
Currently, in order to view patient lab results, medication, and other data, a radiologist must start multiple clinical IT applications, log into each one, navigate to the specific patient, and click through multiple screens in each application to build the medical history.
The collaboration is designed to enable clinicians to view DICOM and non-DICOM data in one place, reducing the amount of time radiologists spend querying separate, disconnected information systems to build a comprehensive view of patient history, according to the companies.
