Archive developer and medical informatics firm Candelis has released Badlands, technology that can upgrade the company's entire customer base to capabilities previously available only with its Astra cloud services platform.
With the software upgrade, Candelis customers can make use of Astra's automated and customizable electronic report distribution service, according to the vendor. Secure study transfer can even take place between sites possessing the company's appliances and those that do not, Candelis said.
The company said that Badlands also provides information lifecycle management (ILM) services with the ability to use cloud-hosted archiving. ILM services also enable automatic tracking and management of multiple copies of a study.
In addition, Badlands features enhancements to the company's visualization suite, including the ability to generate customized and template-driven reports via dictation/transcription or an integrated voice recognition module. Candelis has also incorporated sharing of hanging protocols and workflow preferences between radiologists, the ability bookmark and "park" an open study, and dynamic mammography image alignment.
The upgrade will also now enable ImageGrid users to access its Web-enabled visualization capabilities via Apple's Mac workstations and laptops. An integrated mammography tracking module has also been added.
