Presented by Dr. Garry Choy and Dr. Sung Han Kim of Massachusetts General Hospital, the exhibit will highlight teleradiology performed for nonprofit hospitals, organizations, and physicians in Rwanda, Cambodia, and Haiti.
The exhibit will illustrate the importance of medical imaging outreach and teleradiology, and it will include data showing that high-quality radiology interpretation in these resource-poor settings makes a difference in outcome, Choy said.
A number of cases will be presented, including those that have changed surgical and medical management, required additional advanced imaging that led to proper diagnosis, or were interpreted within minutes via their global teleradiology system, according to Choy.
"We will illustrate how we have collaborated with [nongovernmental organizations (NGOs)], nonprofits, and other volunteer physicians, and have really made a difference in helping them on the front line," he said.
