eMix touts RBMA talk

DR Systems venture eMix said that a presentation at a recent Radiology Business Management Association (RBMA) conference showed how the company's image sharing service yielded significant cost savings and patient care benefits.

In a talk at the RBMA's Fall Educational Conference, Katherine Leslie of Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna, AK, reported that switching to the eMix cloud-based service saved the institution nearly $9,000 per year in hard-dollar costs and provided near-instantaneous file transfers that improved patient care, eMix said. The hospital's traditional method of burning radiology files to CDs and sending them by express mail had cost nearly $15,600 per year.

Leslie's talk also covered a number of other benefits of the service, including the reduction of repeat imaging due to unavailable pertinent exams; access to a pay-per-use model; provision of secure, auditable distribution of results; and the ability to reduce or eliminate reliance on virtual private networks, eMix said.
