Sony Electronics is showcasing its line of diagnostic-quality, medical-grade displays at this week's RSNA 2011 meeting in Chicago.
The lineup of monitors is specifically designed for radiological applications and features a 5-megapixel (MP) diagnostic display monitor for mammography, 3-MP color and grayscale monitors, and 2-MP color and grayscale displays. The five models are targeted for release in spring 2012.
Sony recently introduced the PVM-2251MD, a medical-grade surgical monitor that is pending U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance. The monitor uses the company's OLED technology, which produces high-quality, high-contrast output and delivers an extremely wide color gamut and quicker response times than current LCD monitors for displaying quick motion.
