Sign up for RADExpo 2012; risks of cloud-based PACS

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

If you're looking for a great way to learn about the latest issues in imaging informatics, look no further than our next virtual conference event, RADExpo 2012: Spring PACS Symposium, happening on May 15.

We've assembled an outstanding program of radiology luminaries, speaking on issues that matter to you. You'll find presentations on critical results reporting, stage 2 meaningful use, cardiology PACS, vendor-neutral archiving, and legal issues in imaging informatics.

Our previous events have drawn thousands of attendees, so don't miss out! In addition to presentations with live Q&A, you'll be able to network with your peers, win prizes including Apple iPads, and learn about new technology from our vendor partners.

So mark your calendars for May 15 starting at 10 a.m. Eastern time, and reserve your place at the event by visiting radexpo.auntminnie.com.

Risks of cloud-based PACS

One major issue in imaging informatics is whether you should migrate your PACS to a cloud-based architecture. There are many great reasons to do it, but the legal risks of cloud-based data migration are not as well-known.

Fortunately, that's the topic of a new two-part series, "Migrating to the Cloud," in our PACS Digital Community. In part 1 of the series, we examine the benefits of a cloud-based PACS network, such as lower up-front costs and increased data security and disaster recovery.

But the cloud can also rain on your PACS parade if you're not careful. There are a number of legal and regulatory issues that everyone should address before migrating their PACS data to the cloud. Find out what they are by clicking here.

Check back next week in the PACS Digital Community for part 2 of the series, at pacs.auntminnie.com.
