Sony Electronics' Medical Systems Division has released its LMD-DM series of diagnostic displays for radiology.
The displays have received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for use in general review of images from every modality, including computed radiography/digital radiography, CT, MRI, and full-field digital mammography (FFDM), according to the vendor.
The LMD-DM series features Independent Sub-Pixel Drive (ISD) technology, which was developed by Totoku. ISD technology's use of three independent subpixels in a single pixel allows, for example, a 5-megapixel display to achieve a resolution of up to 15 megapixels, Sony said.
The series includes a 5-megapixel diagnostic display for FFDM; a 3-megapixel color display; a 3-megapixel grayscale display; a 2-megapixel color display; and a 2-megapixel grayscale display.
All of the displays feature a high-luminance and high-contrast LCD panel that can simultaneously display 1,024 shades of gray as well as accurate color reproduction, Sony said. They can be used in portrait and landscape modes and also conform to DICOM Part 14: Grayscale Standard Display Function (GSDF).
