PACS technology developer Accelarad has implemented its cloud-based medical imaging sharing network for Children's of Alabama health system.
Accelarad's network will streamline the referral process for patients transferring to the 332-bed health system's level I pediatric trauma center from smaller facilities across the Southeast, according to the company. Physicians can now quickly and securely request, view, store, and share medical images from a referring facility before a patient is admitted.
AccelaRad's cloud-based platform will also eliminate the use of image CDs and film, which will help prevent physicians from ordering duplicate tests as a result of damaged or lost images, the company said.
The health system's physicians and patients can now access their medical images through any Internet-connected computer, mobile device, or the Accelarad iPhone and iPad app.
