Software developer ETIAM has upgraded its ETIAM-Connect image sharing and management system with a range of new tools in time for the 2013 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) meeting being held this week in New Orleans.
New features in ETIAM's flagship image-sharing software include a new analytics dashboard and enhanced patient identifier reconciliation, the company said.
The analytics dashboard tracks image activity throughout the enterprise, including image volume and destination of outside images as well as image movement within the hospital, ETIAM said. For images that come from outside the hospital, automated patient identifiers incorporate patient information with the images in the hospital's internal PACS.
The tracking capabilities are essential in an era of more complex healthcare regulations, and understanding image volume and movement is key to planning for future data archiving and application needs, according to the company.
