Teleradiology provider Virtual Radiologic (vRad) is partnering with artificial intelligence software developer MetaMind to enhance the speed, accuracy, and quality of radiology diagnostics for potentially life-threatening conditions such as intracranial hemorrhage (IH).
Anonymized data from vRad's radiology patient care benchmarking platform is already being used to train MetaMind's artificial intelligence software to search and flag images that could indicate IH, according to the companies. Once an image is flagged, the study can be automatically escalated within the radiologist's reading queue or marked for priority review by a specialist.
vRad has also filed a patent for the training and use of so-called deep learning algorithms and models in a telemedicine platform.
