Philips Healthcare is teaming up with Hitachi Data Systems to develop a new vendor-neutral archive (VNA) system.
The system will be based on the Philips HealthSuite digital platform and will combine Philips' enterprise medical image management technology with Hitachi's digital health data management capabilities, the company said. The VNA will be able to deliver images from all disciplines to clinicians across multiple departments and locations within a health system in less than three seconds, the company added.
The VNA is designed to be future-proof, with the aim of integrating and storing data from other sources such as electronic medical records, patient monitoring systems, and technologies such as digital pathology and genomics, the company noted.
Philips plans to launch the package in the second half of 2016, but will introduce it at the upcoming Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) meeting in Las Vegas.
