French image archive software developer Medexprim and electronic medical record data firm Softek Illuminate have inked an agreement to integrate each other's clinical and image database software.
Illuminate offers its InSight and PatientView tools, which help radiology practices work efficiently with patient data, while Medexprim's Radiomics Enabler automates the selection, extraction, patient deidentification, and secured routing of images from PACS.
Combining these two offerings will allow researchers to create patient groups with unstructured data from a variety of systems and corresponding reports. Data scientists and other researchers can then use the data to find correlations between imaging features and other phenotypes and/or genotypes, as well as to develop training datasets for machine-learning algorithms, the companies said.
The two firms plan to highlight their new agreement at the upcoming Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) meeting in National Harbor, MD.
