Imaging services provider Assured Imaging of Tucson, AZ, has won a legal ruling in a proposed class-action suit filed over a ransomware attack in 2020 on its electronic medical record software, according to a report in Reuters.
The plaintiffs were former Assured patients who alleged that they have a heightened risk of identity theft and may incur costs for protective measures after the attack, among other claims, Reuters reported. However, a U.S. District Court judge concluded that the plaintiffs hadn't sufficiently alleged they suffered an injury in fact to establish standing.
As a result, the judge granted Assured's motion on May 17 to dismiss the case, according to the article.
