Enterprise imaging and software developer Intelerad Medical Systems' aggressive expansion has continued with the purchase of U.K.-based enterprise imaging technology provider Insignia Medical Systems, the fifth company Intelerad has acquired over the last year.
Insignia has been providing PACS and vendor-neutral archives (VNAs) for the U.K. market for 19 years and currently manages over 3 billion images from customers ranging from small departments to large, multisite National Health Service (NHS) Trusts across a number of counties in the U.K., according to the firms. It has also developed a sharing service for images and reports that's accessible by clinicians.
The acquisition by Intelerad will enable Insignia to access more resources, enhance its technology, and expand its footprint, the vendors said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Insignia will join other recently purchased companies in the Montreal-based company's portfolio, including cloud-hosting provider Radius (acquired in August 2020), ultrasound image management firm Digisonics (acquired in December 2020), healthcare analytics and cardiovascular information systems vendor Lumedx (acquired in February), and clinical workflow automation software developer Heart Imaging Technologies (acquired in July).
