ECRI announces teleconference topics for 2000

ECRI's interactive telephone seminar series will kick off this year with discussions on the security of electronic medical records and the reprocessing of single-use devices.

The first seminar, "Applying the lessons learned from Y2K," will take place on February 16. Subsequent topics are:

  • The reuse of single-use devices, on May 17
  • Needlestick prevention policy, on July 19
  • Privacy standards set by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, on October 18.

Participants will have the opportunity to listen to speakers on the topic and then call in during the question and answer portion. Registration fees range from $199 per session to $729 for signing up for all four sessions before February 9. All conference calls are held from 1 to 2:15 p.m. (EST).

ECRI is a non-profit health research agency based in Plymouth Meeting, PA. Most recently, the group monitored Y2K glitches experienced by medical facilities. For more information, contact ECRI at 610-825-6000, ext. 5888 or online at [email protected].
