MedAssets Exchange has snapped up national group purchasing organization Health Services Corporation of America (HSCA). Alpharetta, GA-based MedAssets says that HSCA, along with MedAssets' existing GPO, InSource Health Services, will make it one of the largest GPOs in the country.
Headquartered in Cape Girardeau, MS, HSCA has more than 2,000 members and has been in business for over 32 years. The combined company said it will wield purchasing power in excess of $4.5 billion, and will serve more than 13,000 healthcare providers nationwide.
HSCA chairman and CEO Earl Norman will join the MedAssets board of directors. The combined firm will use the Internet, as well as traditional media, to promote the products and services of its suppliers.
