Philips, Agilent get antitrust clearance

Nearly seven months after the companies announced an agreement, the U.S. has given Royal Philips Electronics the go-ahead to acquire Agilent Technologies' Healthcare Solutions Group. After requesting more information in early 2001, the U.S. Justice Department will allow the purchase to proceed without challenge, according to Philips of Amsterdam and Agilent of Palo Alto, CA. The companies are working to complete the transaction as soon as possible.
