Visual Information Institute (VII) has developed a reference image that uses video technology to assess the image quality produced by diagnostic radiology systems.
The systems currently depend on the Medical Imaging Test Pattern by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, SMPTE Standard RP-133, as the best tool to assess video display quality, the company said.
VII said it has also produced a technique for quick and effective quality assurance of electronic imagery. The new technique elevates the quality check from subjective interpretation of pattern content to absolute confirmation that information can be discerned and interpreted, according to the Xenia, OH-based firm.
