BarcoView debuts Coronis

BarcoView has introduced Coronis, a 20.8-inch gray-scale flat-panel display system for diagnostic reading applications. Coronis combines one or more 3-megapixel high-bright flat-panel displays, Barco's MediCal QA software, and a dual-head imaging board.

The 20.8-inch flat panel offers resolution of 2048 x 1536 and a protective glass cover for perfect image rendering, according to Barco. Thanks to its contrast ratio of 600:1 and high luminance (>500 cd/m²), Coronis can be used in dark reading rooms as well as in ambient light environments, according to the vendor.

An integrated I-Guard sensor enables continuous monitoring and maintenance of soft-copy image quality, according to the Kortrijk, Belgium-based firm. I-Guard maintains image quality and DICOM consistency without interruption of radiology procedures or the need for on-site QA intervention by radiology technologists or system specialists, according to Barco.

A new imaging board, 3MP2FH, features BarcoView’s proprietary 10-bit driving scheme. Coronis 3MP can be used in portrait as well as landscape mode. A single, dual, or quad-head version is available.

In other news, BarcoView has debuted MediCal LE (Light Edition), a manufacturer-independent QA software package for color and gray-scale displays in home offices and hospitals. MediCal LE combines a user-friendly interface, a USB optical sensor for calibration and measurement, and a set of test patterns.

The software compensates for ambient light and adjusts white luminance without loss of sharpness, to obtain a user-selected display function such as DICOM, CIE, or a fixed gamma, according to BarcoView. It also features a variety of easy-to-use test patterns, which allows users to check their display quality at any time, according to the vendor.
