Film digitizer vendor Howtek has introduced Fulcrum, a medical digitizer designed to support computer-assisted detection applications. The Hudson, NH-based firm said it expects its new digitizer will first be deployed in breast cancer CAD applications.
Fulcrum would be utilized in third-party CAD systems to convert film-based mammograms to digital form for computer analysis, according to Howtek. The digitizer will be marketed through Howtek subsidiary Howtek Devices.
Engineering and test samples from Fulcrum are available now, with initial production for breast cancer CAD applications scheduled for the fourth quarter, according to the firm.
